all about karla

A portrait of Karla - a 34 year old woman with light brown skin, wavy medium-length hair, and wavy bangs across her forehead. She is wearing a tan blazer and a red dress underneath. She is surrounded by orange and yellow flowers under a bright blue sky. Karla is a Vancouver-based animator and graphic designer.

Hello! I’m Karla (she/her/hers). This is the home of my art direction, graphic, and motion design client projects.

My specialty is approaching creative challenges from an interdisciplinary lens: using illustration, animation, and design to make work that builds genuine messaging and creates impact.

My design philosophy stems from my belief that a kinder world is possible, and I hope my work helps you visualize that. Intentional design choices and their effects on human rights and climate justice are always at the front of my process.

Select clients include Microsoft, London Drugs, CBC, The LA Times, and The Georgia Straight

I was born and raised in sunny San Salvador, El Salvador, and I currently live in rainy Richmond, BC with my wife and our perfect little dog; I am a settler making my home in the occupied traditional lands of the Musqueam and Kwantlen Nations.

I studied traditional drawing at the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design and went on to graduate from Emily Carr University of Art + Design with a BFA in Animation.
