the challenge
To celebrate Pride in 2021, CBC commissioned me to direct a short piece showcasing Rebecca + Katelyn’s beautiful love story. What made their story so unique was how they made a huge change in their lives in the city based on their dream of owning a small farm.
the strategy
I chose to animate the world around Rebecca and Katelyn while leaving their characters unchanged to show that their commitment to each other remained as they made huge life changes.
I also added a few animated details to bring their vibrant personalities to their sweet farm animals! I love projects where I get to mix animation and live action footage.
Fun fact: My amazing art director, SK Robert, animated another real life love story… my own! 🤭
