the challenge
The folks at Microsoft chose to share stories of its vibrant workforce to show the powerful impact of innovation. For Christabel, innovating as an engineer is intrinsically linked to her own personal story of transitioning at work. It was very challenging to direct a story that is so intimate and transformative in someone else’s life. The great folks at PASSERINE organized a meeting for me to chat with Christabel when I started the production process. I was especially grateful for her guidance in representing her during a tender moment before her transition.
the strategy
I’m honoured I got to bring visuals to Christabel’s story. My approach was inspired by Christabel’s gift as an engineer: her bright mind allows her to approach problems from different perspectives and find ways to create solutions. I chose to use a mixed media approach, combining 2D animation with paper cut-out style motion graphics to evoke ingenuity.
